Regrets: Kit Clarke (NSCAD) 1. Agenda The agenda was agreed to include: previous minutes (meeting #8), Discussion of issues relating to Aleph 500 training, and Next meeting date. 2. Minutes of previous meeting (19 Apr., 2005) The minutes of meeting #8 (19 Apr., 2005) were approved as distributed with the correction by addition of L. Melanson among those present. 3. New business 3.1 Training issues B. Slauenwhite reported that training for Aleph 500 is scheduled to begin next October. He described the phases for training of trainers: IF POSSIBLE BY 16 JUNE BUT DEFINITELY BY 26 JUNE, the “blueprint” pre-recorded CD-ROM audio/video overviews for the Acquisitions/Serials and Cataloguing modules must be completed by all Acq/Ser Functional Contacts and Trainers; the “bridge” InterWise session, a Q&A online connection scheduled for FRI., 17 JUNE (a.m. or p.m.); and, the “foundation” sessions for all FCs and Trainers will take place at Dalhousie Law Library ACS Lab, on 27-29 JUNE OR 30 JUNE-5 JULY for which ATTENDANCE MUST BE RESERVED WITH DEBBIE COSTELO BY 3 JUNE. The Novanet Office will distribute the CDROM “blueprint” pre-recorded overviews while the “bridge” session is audio/video interactive requiring speaker and microphone; for the latter, proximate geographic clusters of participants would help to minimize the number of lines and allow higher quality connection. For the 85 staff identified to be trained in Acq/Ser, five trainers, who must also first attend the training for the cataloguing module, have been selected to date: H. Blanchard (MSVU), G. Fraser (Dal Kellogg), M. Gillis (St.F.X.), A. Sparks (Dal Sexton) and T. Winchcombe (Dal Sexton). 3.2 Migratory concerns The Contacts agreed that there are three areas of special concern for Acq/Ser: parent/child orders; split allocation funds; and publication patterns. In preparation for the training sessions and for data testing, as many and various examples as possible should be assembled. 4. Next meeting As required 5. Adjournment 2.30 p.m.
