Novanet Express

The “Request a Loan” or “Request a Copy” options in the Novanet catalogue http://aleph1.novanet.ns.ca/F/?func=find-b-0&local_base=U-NOV01 can be used to request books and photocopies from Novanet member libraries /wp-content/uploads/2011/03/member_libraries.html

This service, commonly known as Novanet Express, is available only to registered Novanet library patrons (faculty, staff and students of the Novanet member institutions and Nova Scotia residents who are 18 years or older). Registration can take place at any of the Novanet Libraries. Faculty, staff and students will need a current university or college ID card to register. Nova Scotia residents may use their current public library card or receive a Novanet off campus borrower’s card. Two pieces of identification, including one which shows proof of Nova Scotia residence is required to register for membership.

Cost

Novanet Express is free from most Novanet libraries; however please ask about charges when you register your card.

How to place an order

  • Online from home or library workstation
  • Search for the item in the Novanet catalogue. Click on the item title. Click on "All locations".
  • To order the loan of a book, click on the "Request a loan" option next to the location from which you wish to order the item. It is not possible to request delivery of material owned by the pickup library

  • To order a photocopy of an item, click on "Request a photocopy” then complete the details for the particular item which you want copied. Please note that Copyright prohibits the copying of more than one article per issue of a journal or one chapter from a book.
  • If you are not already logged in, you will be prompted to type in your user name and password. Your user name is the 14 digit barcode number, found on your University ID or Novanet registered card and your password is the last 4 digits of your phone number currently on file with the Circulation department. If you have changed your password in Novanet use that as your password and not your phone number.
  • If your login is unsuccessful please check with the Circulation department at any Novanet library.
  • Delivery

  • Provision of items is at the discretion of the supplying library.
  • Books and photocopies may be picked up at the Novanet library of your choice usually within 3 business days of placing the request .
  • The Novanet Express system will send notices to the email address provided in the patron’s registration record.
  • It is not possible to request delivery of material owned by the pickup library.
  • Photocopies may be faxed directly to a number of your choice. This option is not available from all Novanet libraries.
  • Requesters are notified by email of an item’s arrival.
  • If an item cannot be delivered to you, you will be notified via email by the owning library.
