  • The Novanet Policy Board is responsible for planning and monitoring how Novanet’s mission is to be achieved.
  • The Novanet Policy Board takes initiative in obtaining resources needed to accomplish Novanet’s mission.
  • The Novanet Policy Board has a clear understanding of its role and that of the Executive Director.
  • The Novanet Policy Board functions as a team.
  • The Novanet Policy Board speaks with one voice, despite differences within the Board members’ institutions.
  • The Novanet Policy Board members take a leadership role in representing Novanet within their institutions and elsewhere.
  • The Novanet Policy Board focuses on what matters and, where appropriate, may use tissue-paper task forces.
  • The Novanet Policy Board provides clear direction to its committees, task forces, and working groups.

  • In keeping with the spirit of the articles of incorporation, the following requirements underlie the functioning of the Novanet Policy Board:

  • The Novanet Board of Directors consists of the Presidents of each member institution. The Board of Directors delegates responsibility for the consortium to the Novanet Policy Board.
  • The Novanet Policy Board provides clear direction to the Executive Director and is responsible for monitoring his/her performance.
  • The Novanet Policy Board conducts an annual assessment through its annual report.
  • The Novanet Policy Board may delegate decision-making to its Executive Committee and/or the Novanet System Operation Committee.
